Readily admit did not react well when finally got objective evidence of a decent audience response to some of my ideas. Which is an interesting way to put it. Another way to put it is: struggled with handling properly global interest across several areas from a coding effort with an open source project to my math ideas and beyond.
This blog was made by me over a decade ago to try to get a handle on the beyond would think, from the title. Seems lately to be where I try to process things. And for over a decade there have been people out there keeping up with my content and apparently linking to it, and finally got more thankful. You're all kind of the unsung heroes of my story? Yeah, those of you who fit that description are. I DO focus so much on myself. But for so many years it all just seemed so strange.
For so many years have wondered what is real and how to know. That can really make life a struggle because you still have to make decisions regardless, on the daily.
So much has been and still is a mystery to me. And yeah, mystery matters but I mean that to be about not showing too much to your audience. Some people like to peer behind the curtain, but more just want the performance.
Objective reality here though is telling: have maintained global interest by objective measures from 100+ countries, where THAT number comes from downloads of my open source project for over a decade.
The blogs like here, except for Lost in Commentary, trend to 50+ countries where am relying on third party sources with much from Google. Like I use Google Analytics for country counts as can look at on a yearly basis and even compare between years. I also rely on Blogger stats to some extent, but they are less extensive, for some reason. What's up with that Blogger?
And is very mysterious to me who you all are--out there, all over the world.
Maybe I should work on that, huh? Will consider. There are HUGE positives to me with how things have gone. And have talked here much about the web benefit of being in control, yourself. But the big negative is: then how do you make money? Which to me seems kind of pathetic. Never thought money-making focus would end up driving so much. But also is forcing me to settle things.
We can get a pure attention reality where you share your thoughts and people can be interested, or not. Without so many intermediaries who could too often in the past simply be gatekeepers, who could block people just based on their moods or discretions.
In our times we can know just how terribly that worked as SO many people who would never have done well in the old systems, are getting global now. Guess can count myself as one? Guess I should.
So yeah, I need to work on the mystery. Who are YOU who may be reading now? For those who have supported me through the years, amid the ranting, and the endless repeating of how unsettled I am, and who knows what else wacky, thanks!!! Reality is, most of my global attention is just from ideas that I share without some huge production.
For that to work though, especially to stay at the global level is about the audience for the content.
That is just how such things work.
Measurement though is so much about other people. Sure I can control the content here, and my decisions to post or not, and edit or whatever.
But measuring things like how global this blog is? That is out of my hands.
Information about interest comes from others.

Curiosity and mystery
Found myself challenged by my own writing asserting a lapse in human curiosity in our times, but then found myself thinking that curiosity is driven by want. Curiosity is about that urge to know that can push into unknown territory where there can be danger.
The less we have an urge to pursue mystery maybe is a hallmark of a species where for many their success or failure with their society is with known paths.
The web of course has disrupted much, and maybe highlights what happens for some humans when that certain knowledge no longer applies for their current reality.
Is curiosity that can push you to go into that dark room where monsters may lurk.
The truths that are available for the discoverers will then be about that quest, where the outcome is not certain.
So I feel like my assessment is correct: modern humans tend to be less curious than our predecessors.
Possibly is simply an assessment of the power of modern civilization which have cheered much as talk about science and its predictive certainty.
We are less likely to believe that an answer lies behind a hidden door than in figuring out what modern tools or behaviors are needed. Which more than likely is the correct position! The success of many cultures with modern science and technology is daily demonstrated.
And for me is a comfort, as well as the means for communications like this one.
Then the dwindling of human curiosity is less of a concern, but is worth noting, for those who DO live different. Some of us are still the discoverers, who brave the unknown, and can wonder why.
Why do we seek truth? Maybe that is a mystery I will not resolve completely, but then again, to me, that reads like a challenge.

Objective sources for facts helps best
So yeah had been putting things up public since 1996, without much of a good sense of how that was going. But my objectives years ago were relatively simple: figure out some important math thing, get it to math experts and react from there.
So talking things out public was part of the search where made lots of mistakes, as worked out a process. Where eventually yeah did feel like had things solid while not counting much my first thing which had in 1996, as had sent to a presumed expert only to have rejected as too simple. Should elaborate now, as what actually happened was I discovered a modular solution that turned a seemingly difficult problem, into a relatively easy one.
Years would pass until had blogs like this one, which is thirteen years old, which can tell from my first post here which is a good reason to make such posts. So yeah blog had a different name back then, and is interesting to read what I wrote. Is like from some other person, from long...ok is me from over a decade ago.
FINALLY ended up with web stats which were from Google and went into a bit of shock when found out lots of countries across two of my blogs with about a dozen from one. So back then had three blogs where main ones are once again here. This one, and a math one, and Lost in Comment, was the original name as Blogger wouldn't let me do the full name then. Now is Lost in Commentary, which was what I wanted originally.
And my math blog had visits from over 125 countries and this one was from only around sixty, and there was no sense of a proper transition. There were no instructions. I felt like there were no indicators really except this THING telling me these things.
And I appropriately I think became somewhat mentally unhinged.
My more polite way to describe is like to say became--unsettled.
However is important to note that without an objective source telling me, there was no way for me to know. That was HUGE surprise and would take me quite a few years to understand how is possible. And even now I consider that subject, carefully.
Is interesting though that reality of needing others so much. But reality is: Am using technology developed by others, across systems built and maintained by others. Here is free which I DO appreciate. And I can type here like now, like then, and publish.
What happens after is about other people.

Over 23 years pondering much
Decided on April 15, 1995 as my date for when really started pondering much with the idea of actually getting something BIG, where picked USA tax day so wouldn't forget. Which makes me somewhat suspicious now over 23 years later, but have also said before has to be close to actual date.
And maybe was a bit pretentious of me at the time, in my mid-twenties but had treasured my own dream since was 18 years old of figuring SOMETHING out major. And back then had decided would need to be math, for objective reasons.
Even earlier had read kid biographies of some of my heroes like Sir Isaac Newton and Albert Einstein, whom I mention as pertinent in this area. Like I wondered at times, if lived in their times, with what they knew, could I have figured out what they did? And to me such was the impossible dream, which is what I told myself.
So also note realized was a great opportunity to exercise my mind. And all along was making sure would have something valuable no matter what, even if could not reach what then I made myself think of, as an impossible dream. Though now realize how part of me could also realize was maybe possible. My main thinking for a long time was that maybe modern problem solving techniques might make a difference, against old problems.
There was other complexity to my thinking as well where have explained more recently. And yes, also felt like was on a Quixotic quest at times. Is fun. Helps keep things in perspective to be so honest.
As then could comfort myself: even if I failed at least I knew upfront what was up against. And would constantly work to make sure would not be left with nothing for my efforts, if only had benefits of relentless training. Relentless training can be so cool as long as you make certain is not damaging in ANY way. That part have debated with myself as to how well achieved, especially with so much time spent.
Of course have mentioned before taught myself calculus at 12 because Albert Einstein did. Which to me is also a value in even those kiddie biographies though they tend to leave out much, which is appropriate thing to do recognizing maturity is important.
And I did have my degree in physics from Vanderbilt University for many reasons. Where main reason for the choice is because I had the ability. But also yeah, quite a few of my heroes since childhood were physicists. I would not go on to become one though, as did not pursue graduate studies.
And the web had been around of course but much in terms of making useful was maturing around that time. Where I DO need to keep a record as had to check as Google wasn't around yet. The web was kind of this new thing where people were trying to figure out what good it was. And wasn't that easy to find things.
Eventually I'd end up on Usenet talking math, where now wonder when got on through Google Groups. Thought was in 1996, but if Google was founded in 1998, guess it wasn't. Oh, I think Google bought something or other? I do need to keep a better record of how I do things or end up puzzling much, years later.
Wasn't until 2005 that blogs were big enough and big enough in my mind that I started ones, like this one! Though their existence back then was far less, stable. I'm not sure how many I deleted. I know one of my current ones was deleted and brought back. I don't think I deleted this one, but am not sure if did and brought back.
Glossing over other web efforts as looking more at the big picture here.
And didn't really get to social media other than blogs, which I consider social media, until got on Twitter which I know happened a bit over 9 years ago. Thanks to Twitter for reminding me where now also have plenty of other social media.
Well this post was useful. Thinking to myself maybe need to work more at putting down pertinent facts as get vague over time. And then I find myself wasting mental energy trying to remember details. Or just chattering away with wrong ones, like thought Google was around earlier in my own story.
Oh, so have talked much more in LOTS of other posts about my achieving my dreams, where now am more transparent on the full details. And so much may look like a work in progress to others. When if it were?
I'd still be doing more pondering. Now am more wondering, and talking things out.

But what about others?
So talk about myself as world's latest major discoverer, where my first BIG discovery was in 1996, with a math thing. And then had something I emphasize for some reason August 2002, also math. And also tend to emphasize publication in a math journal, where chief editor tried to pull after, and journal keeled over and died, back in 2004.
Now over fourteen years later it does stretch credulity for that reason as well. What about the much vaunted ability to put things out there on the web?
And yeah, web DOES work. My own analysis is more difficult here, but plenty of evidence suggests those events were epic for the global math community. And there you have a clue--epic for math community.
We DO rely much on what communities report.
Math people for some reason apparently decided to not report externally. And I am cagey on assessments I made as tried to study that community from the outside. I am NOT a mathematician.
There does appear to have been leakage into popular culture. I guess at much, but don't count it much as usually just find it funny to me. I do not discuss in detail as is highly speculative.
With other things I assessed immediate changes. Like there were shifts from my putting forward a functional definition of science. Turns out that can help scientists, and people who pay for science funding as well. Why I emphasized predictive certainty with checking them.
My purpose though was as stated: needed to shift how discussions went on impending changes to Earth's climate.
And my functional definition for entertainment lead to rather remarkable shifts as well.
So yeah, everything I put out gets checked, relentlessly. Then there are failures of various communities, to which I do NOT belong, to report! Which I find fascinating.
That strategy of just refusing to report I think often DID work--before the web. Such a simple strategy from a different time and now can say, from a different world in so many ways.
Our web enabled world creates a new reality. Now people all over the world can easily just check me on facts which to me is better.
My global attention reality, is merit ruled, web enabled.

Getting attention and money reality
More and more realize how much money is a recent invention. Have actually talked MY musings on how money gets introduced into the global system and is not intuitive. I focus on collateralized bank loans as needed or cannot get it done. If that is wrong, then, oh well. Makes sense to me.
If true though, modern money is an invention of the 20th century, which kind of makes it interesting to consider what was around before, which is a fun subject. But in essence money was directly backed by SOMETHING, like gold, while in our times...well I've talked money lots.
Attention from your fellow humans though is as old as humanity.
There has been an attention industry though which also arrived relatively recently when consider span of human civilization. That money-making attention industry found that people could be convinced to buy things when shown advertising along with other desired content. Idea was that enough people would buy something to pay for the distribution of the information with capital intensive means.
Advertising is being re-engineered by web reality.
On the web there is a vast global infrastructure which costs quite a bit actually, where human beings paid upfront the costs of the distribution system, which allows people like me to get free distribution of information across it. There is a cost there but am not having to pay it, despite having readers all over the globe.
So consider, in prior systems, people paid the distributors of content other humans valued, in order for that information to flow, but in our times that is unnecessary for the web. You STILL have to pay quite a bit to distribute through other systems but is a legacy situation.
Like, if I'm interested in learning something new for lots of reasons where can all be personal am more likely to get needed information NOW with a web search than by any other means. Even if that subject is talked on some other legacy medium, is unlikely to be convenient to me. Like I may notice when is scheduled, or is subject of an upcoming edition of something or other.
And people paying for that distribution on legacy systems?
Are more and more likely looking at an audience which either doesn't know better, is just doing things out of habit, or maybe does prefer the couch potato reality, of sitting back and letting others decide. Or maybe something else. Who knows. Who cares really if you've shifted primarily to web focus as I have.
But yeah then is a question of what pays for directing attention on the web? Am thinking, nothing. More and more do not think you can direct attention on the web much.
And advertising models are still evolving. But yeah, even if you DO find yourself moved by an ad or something promotional on the web, your buying power does NOT pay for the cost of distribution.
So on the web people must be paying for cost of content, which was shouldered by others in legacy industries.
Like now streaming services for video, are increasingly producing their own content.
Yeah that makes sense. So web shifts payment from paying for distribution with capital intensive means, to needing to pay for content, while actually there are still distribution costs.
Like with video streaming there is the cost of the streaming which at those scales does show up, as well as the infrastructure needed to stream to millions, and lots of figuring out how to recommend best. Still those are negligible as a percentage of costs per person compared to the primary costs in legacy industries for distribution of content.
With streaming video on the web can get a better handle on cost of content. And we DID pay lots extra for the delivery of content. Now more focus is on paying for the content direct.
Then you get to people like me who like to put up content, where cost of a global infrastructure is being born by HUGE corporations like here Google is the primary, which is also a part of Alphabet.
Presumably Google has some gain from Blogger and letting people like me talk about a variety of subjects, without being charged.
While am comforting myself that getting global attention does not necessarily connect to money in and of itself. Still is not an easy thing to do.
With a better handle on how I do it, which has taken quite a few years to learn, am also learning how others do it.
And reality is: not many people can pull global attention with ANYTHING that they do, consistently, year after year after year.
For me though is easier than not with skills now developed, as I like writing posts like this one. Is fun.

Comfort contemplating historical resistance to ideas
One of the best things that happened for me YEARS ago when trying to process struggles with my own ideas, from wondering if were valid to wondering how might if ever be accepted was to look at historical examples. There are some stunningly tragic stories. And there are a few that helped me much! Where explaining that comfort is useful I think.
Like recently posted yet again about Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis who ended up in an insane asylum where he died after he tried to push medical doctors in his times to wash their hands before treating pregnant women.
In our times we can witness fights over innovation like, I like to note that you have taxi companies fighting hard rather than embracing letting people book and pay for rides using their smartphones. Thankfully less tragic than a man dying so awfully when he was working to save lives, so to me is useful there as well as emotion is maybe more weird.
Also telling we are not so advanced as a species, still. Could put up quite a few examples actually but have seized upon a few that I think are easily shared, easily checked, and hard to challenge.
We humans evolved. For me was something had to accept as an adult as was taught by fundamentalist Christians, and when was a kid learning, what was taught all seemed to make so much sense! Which turns out is good for human community. If everyone questions everything, then human society falls apart.
Is fascinating to consider that like mythologies are no longer taught by most as valid religions in our time, and as science continues to develop and maybe gets taught better, eventually humans will find it remarkable that doubting evolution was a thing.
Questioning everything? Would be hard to get much done. As like will dutifully work at this post which am editing now, after having worked hard to produce. And post updated version, confident others will read! But how do I know? How do I know anyone is ever reading anything I put on the web? Such thoughts can hamper DOING things. And I look at these words, before will go live. What shows is what I let remain. How do I know YOU exist? I imagine you when writing. Check web stats as best can and other things. Trust that the web works like I think it does. Effort made. Words will be put up. Our belief in systems is important.
Still we must constantly question to keep our many varieties of human systems healthy and valid am sure.
Like to think there are those people who DO keep questioning and work to be one myself, though I do not try to question everything. Naturally focus in areas where believe will have much meaning for my life, and have felt greatly rewarded by that questioning. But answers can also bring challenges.
So yeah, you get stories where people can prove things beyond any reasonable doubt, and still face fierce resistance, which only subsides over time. And eventually folks can wonder over things like, how could medical doctors ever have fought fiercely--to not wash their hands before treating people?
Which is a comfort for the discoverers and other innovators. Humanity can be understood. And is not really terrible actually as long as you do not just run into walls. People may throw walls up in front of you, when you can prove you are right, but try not to run into them. Because that will hurt.
Joking a bit, as the point is--can run into resistance which is NOT rational. Which cannot be overcome by rational means by the discoverer. That sentence bothers me. Is it true? What does history reflect?
Historical record indicates that over time the truth wins out.
Like eventually science found out about microbes, and was understood that hand-washing could destroy dangerous ones. And we have an easy to understand explanation of how protects patients--from their doctors, who in the past killed off quite a few by spreading deadly infections.
So took other discoverers. Like research of Louis Pasteur came after Dr. Ignaz Semmelweis.
Will admit as time progresses with my own story recognize how much is shifting rapidly. But does help appreciate the discoverers. People who question much, are important to others like them as well, for that additional reason.
Which to me is useful perspective worth sharing.
James Harris

Our common global potential
Am paying more attention to how often notice local stories from around the globe. Also other ways when find myself considering distant nations by various measures, where am learning much about people there. Which to me is a great benefit of the ease of information distribution of the web.
But also means am looking at people getting global attention.
Where do think we need to talk it that way. And have a feeling that often? Is not felt that way for those folks! Where will go meta with my own experience.
Meta just means: self-referential
And self reference helps me keep my facts straight. Like February 2004, decided to put up an open source project for software developers with vague ideas of what MIGHT happen. Wanted good things but was wary then of what I thought might happen if did ok.
Now over fourteen years later, is a relatively small open source project where has at best that I noticed managed a bit over 9 downloads per day, but has been less than that lately. Where that is from a LOT of countries, though again not as many as plenty of other open source projects with which I have compared.
Such things helped me greatly. And besides some web stats for a long time told myself could not notice much impact at all. But as the years have gone by, and have other things that pull global interest as well, have finally accepted--did change my life and in good ways too.
Learned much, and am better appreciating the global reality which gave me the experience, which is web enabled.
Ended up tossing just about everything I thought I knew about what happens if you get global attention. Reality is cooler though. So much speculative before realize had no reason to know better.
Where that POTENTIAL is there for any of us in the modern age, as even if you do not share at all, or are not even on the web, so would not be reading this post more than likely, someone else might share. And next thing, some other person is someone am considering, as ponder to myself the global reality of the web which means I am learning a person's story or something about that person, despite being so distant otherwise.
Which I think is often great. Definitely helps us appreciate core humanity I think. Is worth it then, to ponder how often is true for you. As definitely helps to get a better picture of people all over the world, and not just from nations which used to grab...I think the United States did.
Am not sure. Grew up in this country so realize have no clue how much attention Americans tend to grab around the globe really. We do tend to talk like we get a lot, but am more suspicious lately.
Regardless, am sure will change! Or should say, will continue to change, as web opens up our planet, and knowledge flows more easily around the globe.

Open source idea: CrowdTicketPrice
Was thinking to myself about someone scheduling having some personality show up to speak to the public in some venue. And could you crowd source pricing?
Like what if there was a max bid, for a ticket, which was deliberately priced higher, but just in case demand was at that level. Like say, $50 US for a speaker at a thousand seat venue.
If you simply purchased at max price, with tickets available, then you'd have your ticket, potentially at that price.
But you could also bid a price. Where when all tickets are sold, is just mathematically determined what was the most desired price, and that is then the set price.
To prevent fraud the algorithm for that calculation should be open source, and bids should be public, with all other information withheld to preserve anonymity and privacy. That way anyone can calculate the set price, which would be a protection for all.
People who were willing to purchase at max price would then only be charged the set price. Like say was $33 US. And all people who bid above that price or at it, would then be charged at that price and have their tickets.
But people who bid BELOW the set price would get an option, to upscale to the set price--or release their ticket.
And released tickets would go back on sale, at the now set price of: $33 US
Potentially with high demand, all the tickets could rapidly sale at max bid, showing that IS the proper price or probably lower than what value people might actually believe is there.
Might seem like best bet is to bid low, to try and drive down the total price, but that opens the door to more people! Which with a high demand item would LESSEN likelihood would get a ticket. Like if is dynamic where the likely set price is viewable, oh which is an addition to idea, and everyone is bidding $1 US, then might go rapidly.
Oh yeah, people can be squirrely. What if everyone just learns to bid $1 and rush for tickets?
Well could set a minimum, if necessary. Probably would depend on the likely community though of interested people as to whether or not would so behave.
Could even let people bid below a minimum, and if demand did not reach, could go ahead and sell them at what can then be like a shorted level. So they were being closer to what people really value.
THAT could be very dynamic, and decided will toss out there as a free idea. Oh yeah, should link to my other idea for people dynamically PICKING movies for the theater: Movie theater of the future?
Have ideas like these ALL the time. Tend to just put them up somewhere public, just in case might be valuable. If that sounds wrong to you? Then guessing you do not think like me. Is cool.

Possibility of web help and my experience
Web has helped me greatly, where like here can definitely use to talk my story, and share ideas! Where have noted been greatly puzzled there. Like can share ideas I think are beneficial, and witness good effects, and then there is not other things that I thought would happen.
Has been like that for around twenty years.
Early on was talking math primarily with my dream of dismissing racist notions MYSELF with mathematical discovery.
Where now fully believe had the result I needed--in 1996.
And as is typical of people who can make such discoveries in math, kept piling on.
Including making much bigger ones, like discovering that math can do algebra itself--and better than us! Where that was shown with an improvement on an approach from Carl Gauss, one of the greatest mathematicians of all.
Where didn't actually have to do most of the work there as the math did it for me. And can do it for anybody, who understands the basic techniques in the advance. And I discovered that September 2008.
Well shared on the web. Got plenty of attention apparently where learned through Google Analytics primarily at first. But where was the rest? Like where was the press?
Well looks like I discovered there are things we thought were one way, were really another.
At least web and doing other things, like deliberately did karaoke, allowed me to safely learn rules of attention including global ones. Web for the global ones, and karaoke for the experience of fans jumping up and down and screaming name. So I didn't exactly miss out. And yes, apparently at times people recognize me, and no do not want a celebrity experience there. Let's keep it cool like now, ok? Still there is value for others with a proper recognition, as my story is so much about--merit rules.
With the social disruption of the web helping to reveal how things REALLY worked, things are actually so cool now in many ways.
Like check out US box office, where thankfully the facts rule. Are seeing massive disruptions with major productions going down in flames and supposed rules of the past upended completely with the actual hits. Pay close attention I think to where you can check with facts, so know are seeing REAL success. When I see what seemed more typical of the past? I think, check for the money. And I TOLD you here my functional definition of entertainment was about helping the entertainment industry.
Where my functional ideas are just part of the social disruption.
The primary? YOU, me and people like us, if you watch movies, who are talking, through the web. Where yeah much of that is through social media.
No longer can certain people MAKE a movie a success just by promotion, primarily through television and relying on enough early box office to build momentum for a movie that may be trash.
In our times, people talk movies out of the gate, where that can be considered by others globally, so more merit can rule, and audiences regain their power.
And MAYBE we can finally map out the people behind the scenes who had a contempt for us before, as they manipulated, and created an illusion--of success. What price to pay for those who bowed before them?
Trappings of success--celebrity, wealth, and what they called fame, but what is fame? Really?
My story now moves to that phase where we ponder how? How could you work to suppress some of the greatest intellectual discoveries in human history? And for goodness sake, why even would you try? What kind of person or people could do such a thing?
Am SO curious on that one, not surprisingly. And yup, you are part of getting the answer, which is why am sharing here. After all, we were all treated badly, together. In a system that I think was about making sure that most people could never get to the heights of success--without going through gatekeepers.
And we've learned some of them were sexual predators.
How often were predators merely picking those who we were to think were successful? And with what price for them? Is scary to ponder, eh? But yeah if full force such a system would hate merit rules. Is not necessarily the case was in place. Am admittedly speculating as search for answers to my own story.
Yet I DO wonder. Discovery is one of the greatest merit arenas our species has. Major discoveries have fueled human progress for so long. What humans could finally find the keys to such blocking on this scale and for so long? They intrigue me with their efficacy.
These are people who apparently wanted to be certain your merit? Does not matter. So they could be the ultimate gatekeepers, hidden in the shadows? Maybe. Maybe not.
Our world will figure out, am sure as is just too curious. How was it done? How is it being continued?
Inquiring minds do need to understand, by whom, and why.

Beyond mysticism and attention reality
Years ago was more put off by web things realize are quite consistent with web facilitating easy movement of ideas. Where focus on key things like information distribution really helps a lot. But like, who are the folks most likely to be VERY interested in some area of human endeavor?
Generally the MOST interested people in an area of human endeavor are the people most involved in that arena, whether that be because of skills or in some other way that involves a lot of their time and effort.
So like in OUR times a relatively new performing artist can start with plenty of famous fans, who are the most known performing artists. And they can contact that person, easily, thanks to the web.
Which is kind of to help folks who might still not be used to our web reality. It's really not that big of a deal, and is NOT a short-cut to success either.
Finding grassroots, where you build from levels not near the top are actually more difficult in our web environment. Is harder to quietly build your thing, without being noticed by folks who can actually be rather disruptive no matter how nice they are to you. Which is not the fault of that person necessarily.
Web disruption can come in many ways. And no, is not necessarily the case even if you're a brilliant new performer you will find yourself being contacted by very famous people out of the blue just like nothing. But if it does happen? Do not be surprised.
With myself do try to keep down behaviors I find suspect. Like how often find silly or egregious errors in things have posted, which I may clean up over days.
Those kinds of things throw off the upper level people. Who I realize may be the FIRST to read, as they are the most interested, and web enables.
Attention reality in our times can be simpler. But am explaining more, like talking how I do meme injections, where introduce simple ideas, which I expect to move. Did so in a prior post where discussed the meme injection: telemarketer mentality don't badger me
Also talking it more does strengthen but purpose here, with I guess a very potent functional meme isn't to put more energy into it, but to explain why explaining how I tried to do it.
Where is a relatively minor one. There have been far more MASSIVE ones that have flown through recently, like me talking race. So you can get the general principle. Is same across the board.
Information flows in our times. And before long people will be used to the consequences which shift things very markedly from the ways of the past. I think getting beyond any kind of mysticism, is very good. And is great for me! Took me a long time to settle down with many things.
Because yeah, disruptive technology is not just disruptive for those whose lives are changed by moving into their industry. Can also be disruptive for people like me who have to shift so much from how things were before.
Was brought up for an entirely different world. Do prefer the web reality of this one. But there is just so much to process and learn.

Driven to know
One of the best things about the web is easier access to information. Have noted to myself now when simply do a search when in the past would have had to plan a trip to the public library, or merely speculate on something or go from memory.
That ease of access to information shifts promotion as--why listen to some person paid to tell you something if you know someone who used something, or can tap into benefits of thousands of conversations of people using a product talking on social media? Discuss that line of thinking more with this G+ post as find it convenient to simply link out there.
Which explains how I gained influence with valuable knowledge including knowledge I discovered, as web enabled that to flow, and more and more people look to best sources.
Also reveals how separate other systems actually are, which then helps explain my problems in figuring out how to make money. The systems for making money are appropriately completely separate which is an odd conclusion to consider for people brought up in the 20th century.
People like me who grew up in that time were presented with so much where it took money for that to happen. Which was often the money that paid for television itself from advertisers, as television was the primary line to the mass market.
But television was and is a MUCH smaller pipe for information than the web, which is being nice and absorbing it, in a process of slow digestion which will help television in the long run am sure. And television was SO MUCH one way, while now social media means that television shows must keep up with feedback or ignore at their peril.
Web simply gives more information. Like in looking at content that is still firmly behind or going behind paywalls with movies, can learn much about when people are quite happy to pay. And I think is when feel get a good value for that money, where how do you know? And then can understand better how finding quality on the web for products or services where people wish you to pay is still problematic in general.
So yeah, does make sense how I could immediately gain vast influence with the reality of major discoveries and powerful ideas, while finding that separated from other things like money and celebrity.
(The press refusal to discuss me is another thing entirely though.)
That also is a global benefit as yeah, lots of things WERE believed about money am sure and still are with plenty of folks. But now I have valuable information showing just how wrong that view is, and simply.
Have my own story, but also now feel better understand the example of Google and the rise of web search as well as what happened with competitors. Where paid advertising? Does Google need to advertise web search?
My understanding is, no. And now feel like have a simple explanation where being meta, relying on my own experience has given important clues to figure it all out. Which is helpful for people around our planet.
Now then, still DO have to figure out how to make money myself. One thing though is that as people better understand please talk my story! That is so much what celebrity actually is. And do NOT want much, but somehow am in a bizarre situation where everything I try, to make money, runs into a wall.
Is an intriguing puzzle.
Have been forced to rely completely on community for years now, even for small amounts of money making with work, where that is community placed and temporary.
Or just talk to me: what is going on?
Can figure out so many things and have things with demonstrated usefulness to the world, so why so much quiet? And why so hard to find anything whatsoever can do any more where get paid in return for my efforts?
Am I missing something?
Regardless there is the global benefit as better understand how web has helped so much already, as more and more we focus on people who know best. Which gives us better knowledge rules.
James Harris

Foundations in our new reality
Trying to feel legitimate has been hard for me. So difficult to talk about my daily things with others, and finally focused more on telling here on this blog, as well as some on others. And still is kind of hard, but makes more sense and feels more real to me now.
Like my decision to look for simpler processes with math paid off HUGE, and was so much modular.
Where modular is of course used all over the place, like with cargo ship containers. And also with kitchenware where you can have all these containers nestled within each other, of the same size.
Reached for modular years ago with math, and found out was an underdeveloped area, so got two things as a result: easier and smaller.
Which did NOT go over very well with the math people, and now over 18 years since invented my primary modular approach they will not acknowledge it, nor discoveries made with it. Which is not so atypical.
Like finally realized could look at what is going on with rideshare, have a very verbose post talking meta much where bring up about halfway through near the end.
That helped a lot with perspective as talking about how people take rides. Seems simple enough. Yet consider the battles.
Shifting from there to my own was easier then.
So then was more like, oh, I found more modular with math. Yes, there was modular with math already, but I took to the next level. Which was a key innovation disrupting entire math discipline.
Much easier to process such a sentence for me at least.
Why do not people just accept new when is better? Have thought about much also, and consider, lots of people actually DO, which is what fueled the growth of Uber and also Lyft as two main ones I know. Have actually used Lyft myself.
But yeah, what if taxi companies had simply let people book rides online? And pay for rides with their smartphones? Versus fight Uber?
Is human nature I think when established people see an interloper, crossing into their territory, and get mad, versus, stop, ponder and say--cool innovations!
For me means have global without other as so much other is controlled by the establishment people.
And more and more am like, who cares. I wouldn't, if I had the money thing figured out. Eventually my story goes into the math textbooks and the history books, and those math people like taxi companies simply have to adapt to change.
With simple explanation though, can also ponder: What if such folks won? Well like with Uber and Lyft and companies like them, then you'd simply lose the ability to do things they offer. Am sure taxi companies would be forced EVENTUALLY to allow you to use smartphones for the same things, but history reflects could delay for a long time.
Is weird actually.
With my things was able to casually make math discoveries when I felt like it. The math people still refusing to acknowledge my results are in a doldrums really. But what do they care? Math people still get paid.
Luckily most of the math that science and technology needs is well developed enough. And clearly humanity isn't that excited about what might be missed until the latest and greatest finally gets properly adopted, which will change am sure once people better understand.
May be partly because of how much we have with what already is here though. We have so much brilliant already, thankfully.
So I get lots of chill time for many reasons. Am appreciating it more and more.
Still problem of a paycheck for myself is pushing me creatively. Am looking more at entertainment things and finally focusing my creativity on science fiction.
Where also is really so cool got to experience SO MUCH the global attention without any of so much other as then could carefully figure out what actually goes with it, and what does not. Plenty of times much of the drama felt intensely? Was clearly just ME trying to process and adjust to shift in my reality from MY discoveries.
That is something else. Like so much of who you were gets shattered, and has to be remade, but also is healthy, because is positive change for positive reasons.
So yeah, gets easier to talk as process. And with foundations more firmly set, can also feel better with perspective and a confidence have done things of value for lots of folks, including myself.
Discovery is so much fun. These other things are just part of our human reality and also have learned quite a bit which could help so many people too. Is very cool.

Guess is real
Have a cool situation which is very hard to explain, though I clearly do try, a lot. Where for years just found it difficult to believe. Part of me did believe but for logical reasons. But getting the emotion there was very hard, because so much seemed so impossible.
More recently realized that I should just accept things objectively and rely on facts, especially those from third parties, like Google, without giving them grief. Is so wacky too. Looking at web stats was like, really? Or are they messing with me? Which went on for YEARS.
Was easier on me as escaped certain emotions and learned some things, like my walk-away test for ideas.
Now when I think I have a great idea I try to just let it go. So I quit thinking about it, and move on to other things.
With some prior ideas that would go on for years, and eventually the idea pushes itself back into the forefront, and with some things realized I was stuck with them. Could not get rid of them if I tried.
Then wondered more about why would I try? And was always about social things.
Web gave me the global attention regardless, but then had to learn how to handle the rest. Where was comforting to simply at times, figure maybe there is nothing. Let that idea go. Make it prove itself. Then push it away again, and again, and again.
So how do ideas push back? Well once shared, like here, they start changing things.
The ideas do not literally push back. Are like really hard as in immutable objects. Ideas are just solid really. Is interesting how people can think different as have pondered why. Am like, oh, you THINK something is an idea, when is some malformed thing masquerading. The real deal well, are like I said, immutable.
Just because some other human calls something an idea does not make it what I call an idea. To me may be some mismatch of concepts where maybe do not even really relate to each other. So will not work.
The real deal ideas can just change things.
They just get shared, and that sharing leads to changes. Then am looking at things, and realize, yeah, is my idea that did it, as people used the idea. Then you start questioning and trying to find some other explanation.
Which is how have spent about fifteen years really, when was sure with one thing by most measures, which was my way to count prime numbers. Then also yeah, you can check social things.
So, guess is real. Am finally at a point where have done all kinds of tests. Have checked things and re-checked just about every way possible. And have deliberately put out ideas to change problem areas in the world. Where then it is very much emotion and logic have to work together.
After all, if am going to change something on a global scale, have to believe I can do it, and believe is something need to do, so emotion has to be there. Logic just tells me when I can, not if I should.
Which is the surprise. Why cannot I have a logical system to tell me when I should use ideas to make some particular change in our world? Because is the feeling that keeps you from coming up with those very logical solutions which are really not the right thing to do.
Yeah that is it. Emotion has to be there to make the right decisions, as try to balance what one can do, with what one...will do.

So much rational explanation
Did a lot of posts really just testing things through last year, thought that was done. Then ended up doing more this year. But feel like THAT check of certain things is done.
So why did I think was necessary?
Well there is a lot of information I have which seems contradictory to me. Blog posts can let me check wilder things based on what happens, or also, which is really good, based on what does NOT happen. I call them, null tests. And I think my null tests may be a bit different than others, but gist of it is: checking a hypothesis by looking for something NOT to happen.
So put up theories for instance, stating certain possibilities or speculations, like how the world works. Or talked potential of conspiracy and eliminated. And also put forward various ideas and then would pay attention to what, if anything did, or did not happen. Which I can just keep repeating I know, as already gave that bit.
However, as a result of null tests am no longer concerned about the NSA. Have cleared up concerns about several other organizations as well. Also checked on certain people as to what they could do, or might do. And checked some businesses to some extent, though business was outside my primary areas of concern for most of THOSE. Lots mainly was involved with governments and matters with intelligence agencies, and VERY glad to be done there.
However did get involved with economic matters though also related to political and governments.
My research uncovering the macro problem with a simple solution worked immediately, which was interesting to me. Mass market in the US has targeted the least common denominator is the phrase for a LONG time. My analysis is was targeting most racist or most homophobic or most misogynist in a group, along with other things--at the macro level. If friends for instance though simply question, limits the power of that one person in their group who is the most of any of those things.
People would end up missing out on great things, if not questioning better. And why should people go along with such stupidity if they know?
People who sailed with success through that messed up system? Well history reflects, the rather monochromatic reality that resulted. Now diversity can rule, and entertainment can simply be better.
Some of these corporations though. They HAD to know what they were doing. And the ruthlessness of the pay gaps were a different matter as well. They were doing it on purpose--deliberate underpay.
Not just underpaying women and Black folks like myself by accident, or JUST for the money, but also for power. You see, being cheated in that way has predictable effects on a human being. Breaks people down. Makes them easier to manage. Was learned am sure in the US by former slaveowners watching what happened to people freed from slavery who were still trapped into working for them.
So deliberate underpay is a method for deliberately stealing dreams.
Outing that system was a pleasure. Once people know they can break their programming to be resigned to pay that is too low. And global economies are growing as a result, where in US some parasitic politicians realizing might happen I guess, gave themselves and their buddies, as I like to say, a MASSIVE tax cut. They are simply financial parasites. Nation will have to deal with them later though. And will am sure. Web is changing much as electorate has ability to check on things.
Some people may notice things am doing and wonder how I survive, especially if some of the wilder things are true. And I like to say is about...who knows. Do I need to get back to talking null tests?
Probably not.

Web good name
The web has been so much a work in progress for so long, is now thankfully so well developed can get a better handle on more things. Like how do you build a good name on the web?
And have started talking already with emphasis on history you can build, which called web depth as emphasized mine.
And reality is: you put up LOTS public then you will be giving people a LOT of information with which they should consider you. Usually we do wish to present well when public. I take that for granted with that claim of we, there, but feel like audience can consider that as a potential point of departure. If do NOT agree then other things may not seem correct to you either. Like to me it makes sense you would want to build a good name.
Wanting to do so, does not guarantee achieving, so is worth it to me to talk it out, and also maybe find if is useful for others, or give myself a chance to reconsider ideas that may be flawed in that regard.
How we appear to our fellow humans in public matters to each of us, and has to matter.
If you say it does not, then you do certain things in public and notice how quickly your fellow humans will make certain you appreciate how much it matters.
The web like here is a public space.
And is more public as people all over the world can, and do, visit here, kind of like Times Square in New York City. And I really like that analogy as can give a physical sense to the web behavior itself. Like will admit I sometimes try to connect between behavior on the web, with similar types there. Where watch a lot on videos as is a place I want to visit.
And have seen Times Square from SO many angles through people who have visited and vlogged for instance, but I digress somewhat.
Your web history gives you web depth, which means like here, people can read my posts going back over a decade, or just jump around to check me on consistency. Have talked web authority before, which is easy, as is when web has information you need. And web search is how I tap into often. So yeah, you can search on topics related to me, or maybe even came to this blog on web authority.
My view is that I can often check people far better now quickly, than could in the past, as long as they have some history on the web. Which is good as spend SO much time on the web, doing many things, including writing, like here.

When objective rules
Trying not to use weird so much, so will say is remarkable that years ago when was thinking could maybe apply some problem solving tools to trying to do something of note, wanted something objective.
Was aware that with many things where is just about people's opinions then biases can rule.
But consider, am 18 years after introducing the world's latest major mathematical discipline. There is no concern in my mind will not be accepted eventually as is too useful, but the behavior around it has been much that I feared was possible.
Considering what happened to women has helped recently as so many situations where they were simply forced out of occupations that many thought had too much status, influence and money-making potential, and was relentlessly claimed was...what was claimed?
Reality is, when certain people gain status, influence and power, and also money, they may do all kinds of things to keep those things, and was odd that could break out along gender lines in ways we know now. Keep getting surprised. And the news is coming out so much now, thankfully.
Knew better how much could happen along other specious lines, like with the made-up idea of race, which we now know is a social construct, according to latest science.
Of course for me, trying to absorb being the person through which the ideas would flow to give the world a new major math discipline was hard enough. Took quite a few years just to admit it, even to myself, and even more to talk it freely.
My math discipline actually can encompass the others. Does encompass the others and lets you vastly simplify things. It is so useful would get results that look almost impossibly simple compared to what came before. Is one of the most brilliant accomplishments...I guess. You can do cool things with it.
Means that the suppression systems have just begun to fully understand, no matter what, run up against an absolute. Which is one of the pressures pushing them to crumble. With my things was inevitable, eventually. The web though has enabled so much more as the personal truths of so many are shattering so much wrong, rapidly. Thankfully. Is so weird though. So much I thought was one way, was really another.
My things are still up in the air in many ways though, which is ok. Gaining better perspective as to why? Priceless as the saying goes.
Guess feels like part of a purpose with so much. When trapped in something with so many other people, except I am global. Was not worried about not getting recognition. That's impossible. Was worried what to do with it. Now am getting a better sense.
If humans could stop great advances? We wouldn't have the tools like these computers or the web itself, or any of modern civilization.
Still why do some people try? THAT has been done. Maybe is just part of why stories need villains.
Because the real world provides so many. Is only way even fiction can gain some realism. The real world villains though usually are far nastier than in most fiction people want.
Have always worried what I would be. You want to be a hero watching movies, but with things I have, learn how easily it is to be something else. And wonder how you find solid ground.
Objective rules do not care. Truth does not change. And humanity gets one more story over which people can ponder.
Why really did I choose math? Can tell myself all kinds of things. Objective was better than relying on people's judgement. With objective could study how that could go as wrong and ruthless as possible.
Yet also, was there simply something inside that wanted to know? Or did the truth just want a way into our world? And through me, was the best route.
As kind of an afterword, can I now also finally admit, spent SO many years just asking myself silly questions? Was like, hey you might be some kind of big deal, so maybe you KNOW things, you know?
And am talking to myself. Was so very odd.

Human equality reality
Predictive certainty to me is a better way to look at science and has relevance to most folks with electricity who use it when flipping a light switch. And usually the light comes on, predictably, and if it does not, you have mitigations. Like maybe the light source needs replacing. There may be a wiring problem and an electrician, who is an electrical expert, can fix. Or maybe the power is out, and you have to wait for the power company people to fix that.
And all of that explains science. At the edges of science we lose predictive ability, and scientists work to expand zones of predictive certainty.
So yeah, you do science every time you flip a light switch. Scientists find more science.
And the science of genetics has revealed very powerful things about us humans.
Like we're more closely genetically related out of Africa, as science figured out our species emerged from Africa with a relatively small number of individuals.
And genetics and other science like neuroscience has revealed that our species values its intelligence, with our bodies exerting a tremendous amount of effort to have as much as possible. And reality is human beings tend to be smarter than may realize as we endlessly compete and compare with each other.
And there is no differentiation along special lines in intellectual ability from what is healthy in humans. Some humans do tend to be smarter by various measures, though is questionable how best to measure intelligence. But unfortunately genetic abnormalities or environmental deficiency or hostility can impact negatively.
Yet around the globe can look at human beings apparently split with regard to success in ways that seem to indicate things different about human ability than science reveals. So there is some other force at work as then cannot be just about ability.
Has been known that certain cultures deliberately split various groups out any number of ways, but like in my country the United States that is supposedly all over. My country is supposed to be a land where merit rules. And yet we have some of the worst disparities, along specious lines.
My analysis is that a very loose system which turns into powerful suppression is about group behavior where seemingly minor opinions within a group turn into very hostile attitudes at a macro level. Fix is, when you sense your group is talking in a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, ask questions. And that's it.
It is very simple in lots of ways. And weirdly enough means you can poll people who speak as individuals, and everything seems ok. But with their friends? Different story.
And that's it.
Of course it can be important to accept the scientific evidence of human equality. To me is one of the best things to come out of science.

Advanced communication perspective
Recently began talking social media as just a phrase for advanced communication tools, more akin to the telephone than television, as yeah, people CAN respond to you, you know? And communication on social media at its best is a conversation.
That simple concept had me promptly thinking about over a hundred years ago when telephones arrived. And imagine, someone back then wondering what was the point of talking into some gadget when you could just walk over and chat with your neighbors like a sensible person? As imagine something hypothetical maybe was said or thought in the past as similar in my mind to puzzling over why some people in our times wish to share pictures of their food.
And started typing this post and making sure to verify what I was confident was correct about telephones and arrival time was surprised was earlier than I remembered. A Google search gave the answer of 1876 as when Alexander Graham Bell called his assistant Thomas Watson. Yeah I know the story, but forgot the date.
Well quickly reminded with web authority, which is phrase I use to talk about the information we get that easily with web search being the primary way have in mind now. Where others use phrase differently am sure. But I defined authority functionally as authority relative to one entity is when some other entity has information needed.
Then easily web authority is when the web has some information I need, like knowing when the telephone arrived.
And social media is a back-and-forth conversation potentially which is far more advanced than technology gave in the past, which to me is more definitive when trying to understand. Is SO useful, so to me is a functionality that helps explains.
Where television was more broadcast, though yeah there were attempts at getting feedback, here and there. And even shows that rely on it, like voting, for singing competition-type shows.
Which leads me to thinking that the web in its absorption of television will change television, ever more rapidly until is nothing like it was in the past, and the conversation will rule there as well.
Which is how you quickly move with some basic ideas to big prediction, and talk a space in a way which I think of as meta. So in defining meta space around social media with this post, am labeling it in that way which you can see below.

Embracing our web reality
Have been challenged somewhat at times here and there on things, but primarily in the past, though recently a few things. And can see an interesting divide between those focused on best ways to gain attention from mainstream things like press and television, versus those who have moved to web reality and what I like to call web authority.
So for instance, can get on television if you convince a few people, maybe some producers, and we take for granted that can involve substantial skill as is highly competitive. But also you can see people who clearly just somehow get there YOU feel, or um, I feel. Like are you kidding me?
Whereas on the web, just about anyone can get on here, and put up some thoughts, but the relentless competition then VASTLY exceeds television, and the potential reach does as well.
The web is the world's one overall truly merit zone for attention. You battle for attention 24 hours a day here.
There is no commercial break. No timeouts. And little tolerance for filler. And for God's sake you never quit broadcasting, in one way shape or form, ever if you wish to hold your place.
Like my blogs are here for you, 24/7 thanks to Blogger of course. But still they are here for YOU and me. As I like to read my own posts often as well.
My global attention reality is not static. It must be maintained constantly.
If you are into web authority, then that is respected. If you are still stuck in the 20th century then you may say certain telling things like your BELIEF that web search is easily gamed. Or your BELIEF that people on the web would do well on television if they really mattered. Or shouldn't they at least have massive followings on social media to be web famous or whatever that kind of supposed fame is instead of REAL fame?
People who mess with me tend to be those stuck in the 20th century folks. And is a waste to argue with them. And hey, I rarely bother arguing with people these days anyway.
Those older things are easier. Television, is easier. Even movies are easier.
Which am certain is challenging to people in those industries! Which is great. They're competing for your attention against people like me. And lots of people not at all like me, and every type in between that is here on the web and you can say, fighting to keep interest.
You hold attention out here? Hard problem. Constant effort. Relentless competition.
Is more free is the main thing though. Here you can control your own destiny far more than elsewhere am sure.
Besides, the web is absorbing television and movies anyway. Ultimately? It will all be on the web. Much of it already is. Probably soon when go to a movie theater, they'll just connect the big screen to a movie, downloaded from the web as why not? Movie theaters are going to change too, am sure.
Web is the global attention zone of the 21st century.
Moving forward am shifting worrying about those people stuck with 20th century belief as yeah, gotta make money. And have to turn at least a bit to celebrity. But to me celebrity is just work. Is just the occupational side of attention. Well that's what I need.
